Read all about it It is feared that 50,000 people will have died from this earthquake by the time the bodies can all be counted. All the hand-wringing and sky-high death predictions of New Orleans don't shake a stick to figures like that, and, they turned out to be more false than the Pamela Anderson's body parts. This looks to be real. Dire and real. The similarly sized San Francisco quake (click now to read about it) killed about 60 people. The only thing that separates Loma Prieta, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Pakistan is a capitalist society, judeo-christian values and a kind nod to twentieth century progress. Countries like Pakistan who insist on living in ancient history, including a dark-ages approach to learning, religious bigotry, and male/female roles will be damned to the rubble of their pre-historic societies. It's not with a cold heart I say such things; it's with certain sadness to realize that people will trade the lives and futures of their children in for their outdated ideals.

Read all about it A man thinks a snake he has shot many times is dead, he reaches over to grab it, and it sunk a fang into his hand, hitting a vein and killing him. Just when you thought rattlesnakes were not so bad... Then there's the suit-snakes in Washington who just want to cut checks from our bank accounts, much more easily than they would out of their own. This thinking will bite you and your bank account.

Read all about it What can I say luv. Don't kill the messenger. The headline of the money.CNN.com story is "Southwest boots woman for shirt" with a sub-heading of "Lorrie Heasley to sue for being asked to leave a flight because of her politically charged T-shirt." The first headline is correct, the second just an inflammatory tie-in. But the standard media bias is that the CNN.com link to this story reads "Airline Boots Woman for anti-Bush top" which is totally false. The fucking shirt had the word FUCKERS on it. This had nothing to do with Bush, pro Bush, anti Bush anything. It's all about a woman wearing a shirt that prominently displays the F word, a display that, mind you, money.CNN.com was mindful enough to blur out. Apparently, it's too inflammatory for their website (where nobody under 50 will be on any given day) but according to pinko CNN.com, the shirt should have been allowed on an airplane. At least money.CNN.com had it correct 50%... CNN.com was just, well, CNN.com... biased biased biased.

Read all about it How does one respond to this sad fact? The boat was rated for 50 passengers based on the Coast Guard standard of 150 pounds per person. Cleveland said that standard may have to be revised in light of data showing Americans growing fatter.

Read all about it It always makes sense after-the-fact...the boat was filled to maximum capacity, but most victims were in wheelchairs. Wheelchairs are quite heavy so it was probably like having nearly double the occupants. It seems so obvious in review that it doesn't make sense... Plus, a boatfull of people who will not be able to swim (they're in wheelchairs, presumably that means they can't swim, either) if something happens? And no life vests? Notes to selves on future ferry excursions...

Read all about it Former Education Secretary William Bennett was trying to make some point, we think, but the only point made clear to us is the white-sheeted conehead he must be wearing when he rides around at night thinking up such utterly inconceivable nonsense. "If you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose -- you could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down." And our blood pressure would go down if we didn't have to roll our eyes and fall over backwards when idiots spew such drivel. Unfortunately, with the Bennett's of the world out there, that's as unlikely to happen as is his "impossibly ridiculous" (to say the least) proposal. As if, as IF it were even true were it to happen! I think if you aborted all white babies crime would also go down, as the 16-24 year-old teenage males (the vast majority of criminals) aged into senility. Crime would go down then, too.
