God help us all
A teacher sends a text message about a "drug deal" to a state trooper by mistake... I would find this pretty laughable, but with an additional read, I find the poor teacher was just trying to get some weed. Pot! A damn plant, okay people? And she's being charged with "conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia."
I can't believe how much time and effort we waste in locking people up who just want marijuana. It makes absolutely no sense when our "justice" system lets cretins like the one pictured below freely roam our streets after committing several violent felonies. In the meantime, cops are quite busy chasing innocent human beings who just want to relax in the confines of their own homes with a plant that is one trillionth as poisonous to the human body as alcoholic beverages. So while this cretin roamed our streets with impunity and murdered an utterly innocent, heroic man who was a loving husband and father of two twin girls, thousands of pot smokers were imprisoned for years of their lives.

We must feed the prison industrial complex- If we relax drug laws, just think of all of those poor jobless prison guards, police officers, court personnel, and lawyers. The staggering loss of income to organized crime and street gangs would devastate those organizations, and further eliminate jobs in the previously mentioned vocations.
Why should police officers risk life and limb to provide prison fodder when easy prey is so prevalent? Stoners are passive, easy targets. It also provides the opportunity to document and control a segment of the non-conformist population... get them in the system and you've got 'em by the balls.

uh, methinks we are losing site of the real issue here. as much as i agree with the whole legalizing pot thing. duh! I think monkey girl was only using it as a single example of what is wrong with our justice system. sco has it "sarcastically" correct. whatever will those poor law enforcement officers do without the ability to go after easy prey. busting pot smokers, and "johns" and sitting at the bottom of a hill in a 55 zone just picking off those darn speeders whose only real offense was that they didn't apply a little brake at the crest of the pass. Law enforcement officers are human being too, and for the most part, pussies like the rest of us.
but in this case, that is no excuse. Tom Egan didn't deserve this fate. and the "pond scum" will certainly not get his just deserves(sic).
the answer to prison overcrowding is simple and will also save those poor civil service jobs sco is so worried about. let all the pot smokers et. al. go and just keep the real criminals whose sentences read "life" or something along those lines, actually do their time; every last fucking second of it. Had this "pond scum" done every day of his sentences from previous crimes, he wouldn't have been out to commit this crime in the first place, so in essence it is societies fault and we are all to blame for this. The prisons will again fill-up, but they will be full of shit bags doing ALL their time for what they have done, and the pot smokers can go back to wonder what the hell just happened…
