Read all about it The FDA has approved medications that cause heart damage (Fen-Fen, Vioxx), medications that relieve symptoms in a very small number of people, medications that cause permanent dizziness, medications that cause liver damage, psychotic episodes, ad naseum (totally intended). But they think medical marijuana has "no sound scientific studies supported medical use of marijuana for treatment in the United States." Have any leaders of the Fucking Dumb Asses looked at the side effects of ibuprofen? Aspirin? ALCOHOL? Who the hell are the Fucking Dumb Asses to tell someone pot doesn't help them at all, and worse, it "adversely impacts concentration and memory, the lungs, motor coordination and the immune system." I'll admit I've never met a pot smoker who was sharp while smoking pot, but try giving an IQ test to someone on Vicodin, morphine, codeine, OxyContin for christ's sake. OxyContin might well be one of the most addictive substances ever created (worse than heroin), with such a dangerous withdrawal that it can only be done safely under medical supervision in a hospital. Further, when said pot smokers weren't smoking pot, they seemed quite sharp and for all intents and purposes, quite functional. Find yourself a regular OxyContin user. Take their drugs away, and try to say the same thing. Fucking Dumb Asses!

Seriously, the only reason why the FDA won't approve pot is because the drug companies can't make money off it like the other drugs.

Marla-bee, that's ganja's take too. I think it might be even more sinister; the billions and billions spent on the so-called drug war keep a lot of people employed. Those secret missions they fly over Columbia and Guatemala, the local and regional law enforcement, and crickey, an entire govnernmental agency--the DEA--are dedicated to this. It might well be a conspiracy to keep all these idiots employed. It's like trying to abolish the IRS. It's just too big a monster to dismantle, too many self-interests involved. Never mind the pull the drug companies must have on this machine as well...

they could if they learned to grow it...
Friday, April 28, 2006 10:57:38 AM (Pacific Daylight Time, UTC-07:00)
Even if the drug companies grow it, what's to stop everyone else from growing their own? I mean, there's no way for the drug companies to make money.

They'd probably offer some stronger stuff, or something. Maybe the guv could legalize it but only from approved pharmaceutical companies who'd make a "pure" version. Or "regulated" version. It's one way the feds and the pharms could get in bed together on this one.

But they still make way more $$ from pills, for sure.

true Marla, growing pot is not difficult, but growing good pot is. the process of growing good smokable weed is expensive and tedious, and most true pot smokers would rather just buy it than go through all the trouble that only a true green thumbed individual would be good at anyway. I mean, we can legally grow tobacco too, but nobody does. And Michela is also correct, having a choice of high grade varities would be a marketing dream come true.

to all y'alls points, I can legally kill my own freakin' chickens, too, but I don't. And I sure as hell don't wanna.
